Project Charter Template

Regular price $3.50

5 page, fully editable Microsoft® Word document.

The most important document in the Project Initiation phase is the Project Charter. It's what you write once the project business case is approved.

You need this – it gives you the authority to act as project manager for the project. The Charter is your mandate to run the project and it’s the document that turns the project from an idea into an actual program of work, with allocated owners (and agreement on funding). Without it, your project doesn’t formally exist!

This template includes explanatory notes to help you complete it. Delete the notes, add your company's logo and everyone will think you created it yourself!

This is a comprehensive Project Charter template to help you map out your project, explain what it is you want to do and gain approval for your plans.

The Project Charter template covers:

  • Objectives
  • Success criteria
  • Project scope
  • Financial information
  • Project team information
  • Structure and governance details.

Plus the other sections you need to clearly define what is going to be done and get everyone on the same page. There are notes to explain what you should put in each section.

This is a digital download (.docx file). Nothing will be shipped.

All the ebooks, templates, checklists and bundles are digital files.

Here are some instructions that may help you access the ebook and template files if you are having trouble.

Are you trying to download on a mobile device like a phone or iPad? Most mobile devices will not let you open a .zip file, or download via a link. Please try to access the files via a desktop/laptop computer.

How to unzip a .zip file:
Zip files are compressed files, so they take up less space when they are being saved and transfered. In order to access the templates inside, you need to unzip the file.
On a laptop or desktop computer:
  • Save the file to your computer.
  • Right click
  • Choose 'Extract all'
  • Select a destination for your files (Browse to where you want them to be saved)
  • Click Extract
  • Navigate to where you saved the files to open them.

If you want to access the files on your mobile device, you can add them to iCloud or Dropbox so they are shared across your devices.

How to read a PDF file:

Your computer may already have Adobe Reader installed on it (most do). On an iPad, you can open a PDF file in iBooks.

If you don't have software on your device that can read a PDF file, pleaase install one. Adobe Reader is the most common software (it's free).

Download it here.

How to find your files:

This has happened to me multiple times: I download something and then can't find it on my computer! Check the Downloads folder (under My Computer). Or use Explorer to search for the name of the file you just downloaded. Sometimes you can also see the file in your browser download history.

Read the terms and licensing related to how you can use the templates and files.
